Exploring the intricate, rhythmic and fiery songs as performed by the legendary Gospel Quartet groups of the Golden Era of Gospel.

The quartet was formed by Tony Backhouse - a dedicated scholar in this now obscure artform . Tony studied in the US and has worked with Black Gospel quartets and choirs in the US for many years. Tony is best known in Australia as the man behind the (now legendary) Cafe of The Gate of Salvation choir.

The Heavenly Light Quartet has performed at many major Arts, Music, Jazz, Blues, Folk, World Music, Sacred Music festivals across Australia and in Europe, and also recorded & performed with Tim Finn, Margaret Urlich, Vince Jones, Renee Geyer, Harry Manx and many others.
